Viessmann Climate Solutions specialist forum for energy suppliers and contractors:  The next phase of the heating transition is now beginning!

Allendorf (Eder), 10/11/2024 – The Viessmann.live event for partners of Viessmann Climate Solutions from the energy industry was a complete success, with over 800 registrations from numerous companies in the German energy supplier landscape. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the world's leading provider of intelligent air-conditioning and energy solutions.

The 4th Viessmann Expert Forum for energy suppliers and contractors took place end of September 27 against the backdrop of the latest trend-setting decisions in our industry (including “GEG 2024”, “Heat Planning Act 2024”). At this event, external and internal speakers discussed the challenges and potential solutions and business models for an accelerated heat transition in the energy sector.

Business models, platforms and a potential game changer

The first part of the forum focused on business models for energy supply companies with a focus on the private customer segment. There is an increasing demand for heat and PV solutions from a single source: Lead generation, consulting, product, energy management, installation and energy supply. Michel Nicolai, CEO of epilot GmbH, began by explaining the role of platforms as drivers of the heating transition and the connections between utilities, trade and energy products. Lothar Stanka, Head of Energy Services and Digital Customer Solutions, Mainova AG, then shared his experiences on the topic of “The energy supply company product heat pump”. Marcel Linnemann, Head of Innovation and Fundamental Issues Energy Industry, items GmbH & Co. KG, gave an eagerly awaited presentation on the topic of “Introduction of dynamic electricity tariffs - a future game changer?”

The subsequent panel discussion on the heating transition in the private customer segment was moderated by Sharon Plaire (Team Viessmann Leads).

Municipal heating plans are increasingly coming into focus

In the second part of the event, after a short break, the focus shifted to solutions for decarbonizing larger services and, of course, the development and expansion of sustainable grid solutions. The interactions between municipal heat planning, gas grid transformation and electricity grid expansion are obvious here. Matthias Temborius, VP Business Development, empact GmbH, shared his experience of decentralized heating solutions for municipal properties, the housing industry and administration, followed by Manuel Gerdsmeyer, RheinEnergie AG, who explained the role of energy supply companies in the development and expansion of new grid solutions from his perspective.

Heat transition for business customers and local authorities

In the concluding discussion on the topic of “heat transition for business customers and local authorities”, the question of how waste heat from large data centers or industry, for example, can be used in the future was discussed.
