Viessmann heat pump as media star: Minister Habeck on tour through northern Germany

The heat pump is the future! This was the unanimous conclusion of all participants during the heat pump tour of Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck. On the second day of his three-day trip through northern Germany, he visited a Viessmann heat pump system in Bremen and the Viessmann partner company Uwe Röhrs.

Allendorf, 08/16/2024 – The heat pump is the future! This was the unanimous conclusion of all participants during the heat pump tour of Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck. On the second day of his three-day trip through northern Germany, he visited a brand new Viessmann heat pump system in Bremen-Walle and the Viessmann partner company Uwe Röhrs.

The Bremen district of Walle: terraced houses line the street. In one of the houses, Linda and Martin Gruet are waiting for the German Minister of Economic Affairs - and a brand new Vitocal 250-A with 50-liter buffer cylinder.

Steffen Röhrs, head of the Bremen guild, is the third generation of his family to run the HVAC specialist Uwe Röhrs, which he took over from his father Uwe in 2015 Since then, the heat pump specialist has also been a partner of Viessmann Climate Solutions Together with his employees, he implemented the Gruet family's project.

50 cameramen and journalists filming in the family's small garden. There stands the gray outdoor unit of the Vitocal 250-A. And the minister has clear words for the media representatives. He sees the tradesmen as trusted partners on the way to advancing climate- friendly heat pump technology. And Bremen's Senator Kathrin Moosdorf agrees with him: “The heat pump is the future in Bremen.” Linda Gruet is completely convinced of the many advantages of the heat pump anyway - you can't hear it, it is economical and efficient and meets the art teacher's sustainability requirements.

Steffen Röhrs backs up his statements with figures: Homeowners can save between 500 and 1000 euros a year if they heat with a heat pump instead of gas. Robert Habeck likes to hear that The heat pump specialist also believes that all the necessary conditions have been created with the Building Energy Act and the promotion of investment in the technology In the morning, Habeck visited a housing association in Hanover. There, old gas heating systems in two apartment buildings were replaced by two large heat pumps - with heat exchangers in each apartment. This is also possible with pioneering appliances such as the Vitocal.

Back to Bremen: The radiators in the older terraced house can still be used, as the Vitocal 250- A, which runs on the climate-friendly refrigerant propane, can easily achieve the required temperature for the heating water. The heat pump can reach 70 degrees, but 55 degrees is sufficient here.

The expert no longer talks about volume when he talks about heat pumps, but about quietness. As proof, he has installed one in his new business premises in Bremen's former tobacco district. This is the next stop for Robert Habeck, the journalists and the entire Uwe Röhrs GmbH team.

There is indeed an elegant gray outdoor unit from Viessmann Climate Solutions at the entrance. During the photo session with the minister, he asks the guests to be quiet, and Robert Habeck convinces everyone present of the whisper-quiet heat pump manufactured in Allendorf. He mentions in passing that heat pumps increase the value of a house. And these are the points Habeck takes home to Berlin as homework: Electricity prices that are too high compared to the price of gas, the speed bonus that is only available for replacing heating systems older than 20 years, the need for continuous and reliable funding and that there should be no obligation to connect to municipal heating networks - these are the points that the heat pump specialists give the minister to take away with him.
