Vitocharge VX3: this modular electricity storage system can now be cascaded up to 75 kWh
The energy transition and the desire for greater independence from electricity suppliers are increasingly focusing on photovoltaic systems and electricity storage. To ensure optimal use of solar power, Viessmann has developed the modular Vitocharge VX3 electricity storage system. Up to five units can now be combined to form a cascade.
- Electricity storage is the heart of every system solution for heat and power
- Modular Vitocharge VX3 for single-family and multi-family homes as well as commercial enterprises
- 360° safety concept
Allendorf (Eder), 06 / 28 / 2024 – Holistic system solutions comprising a photovoltaic system, electricity storage system, heat pump and other electric heating systems as well as a wallbox enable homeowners to be less dependent on the public power supply and to reduce their carbon footprint. The self-generated electricity not only allows them to heat and cool their homes and charge their electric vehicles, it also takes pressure off the public electricity grids at peak load times. The key component of any heat and electricity system solution is an electricity storage system such as the Vitocharge VX3, which is now also available for cascading applications of up to 75 kWh.
The modular hybrid electricity storage system with up to three batteries per unit, each with a storage capacity of 5 kilowatt hours (5/10/15 kWh), can now also be cascaded with up to five units. This then provides storage capacities of up to 75 kilowatt hours, which is enough to meet the daily electricity demand of large single-family homes, residential complexes and smaller businesses such as supermarkets or trade premises.
For maximum safety: 360° safety concept
The development and production of the new Vitocharge VX3 also included the creation of a 360° electricity storage system safety concept. It is based on reliable cell chemistry and redundant software for sensor technology and shut-down functions.
The software quickly detects any potential faults and prompts the activation of a safe operating state. This built-in safety feature is triggered in the event of overloading, short-circuiting, external heating, serious damage or flooding. This virtually eliminates the risk of fire and the risk of neighboring cells catching fire.
Reliable operation thanks to lithium-iron-phosphate cells
All Vitocharge VX3 battery modules consist of tried-and-tested lithium-iron-phosphate cells (LFP). They feature a high number of cycles, giving them high durability. Thanks to low self-discharge, the stored electricity is available for maximum use.
