Career

Benjamin grew up in Thuringia and was practically born into winter sports. Through his club in Tambach-Dietharz, he got into biathlon at an early age and was influenced by his role model Alexander Wolf in his youth. By transferring to the Oberhof sports high school in 2016, he has the opportunity to combine school and sport even better. After being accepted into the DSV junior squad in 2021/22, he competed at the Junior World Championships. In 2023, he won silver in the relay and became Junior World Champion in the mixed relay and in the individual event. He performed consistently in the IBU Junior Cup and was rewarded with third place in the overall standings in 2023.

He was able to repeat this success the following year. At the Junior World Championships, he went one better, becoming double junior world champion and winning another silver medal with the relay team. In the 2022/23 season, he also came third in the overall standings of the IBU Junior Cup.
