Career
What fascinates Mareike most about the biathlon is the combination of running and shooting; everything can change right up to the last shot. She shares this passion with her twin sister Sabrina, who is also a biathlete. At the 2019 World Youth Championships in Osrblie, Mareike wins silver in the relay competition with Lisa Maria Spark and Hanna-Michelle Hermann behind Norway. In the following years, she competes in the IBU Junior Cup and IBU Cup. At the 2022 Junior World Championships in Soldier Hollow, she narrowly misses the podium in the individual race with fourth place. In the relay race, everything comes together and with her teammates, Mareike is able to celebrate second place and the silver medal.
Nine times top-15 in IBU Cup
In the 2022/23 season Mareike is an integral part of the IBU Cup team. She ends up among the top 15 nine times and even makes it onto the podium twice. In the overall standings, she ends up in 16th place.
