Spending time with my family and my girlfriend is very important to me. I am thankful that we are all alive and well, and I hope we will remain so for a very, very long time.

Career
At only four years old, Philipp tries cross-country skiing in his home club SV Eintracht Frankenhain; just a few years later he also starts biathlon training. After graduating from high school in 2014, he joins the sports training group of the German Armed Forces. Starting in 2018, Philipp trains with the World Cup team in Oberhof, making his World Cup debut at Pokljuka in the 2018/19 season, where he finishes seventh with the mixed relay team. At the World Cup 2020 in Antholz, he and his team members win the bronze medal in the relay competition. In the years that followed, Philipp repeatedly fought for a starting place in the World Cup team. After unfortunately missing out on the 2023 World Championships in his home town of Oberhof, he often competed in the 2023/24 World Cup and took part in the World Championships in Nove Mesto.

He also wins the silver medal in the mixed relay at the 2019 European Championships in Minsk.
World Championship bronze, first top 10 placement
At the World Cup in Oberhof, Philipp takes sixth place in mass start and thus secures his first top 10 placement in an individual competition in the World Cup. At the subsequent 2020 World Championships in Antholz, Philipp wins the bronze medal in the relay competition alongside Benedikt Doll, Arnd Peiffer and Erik Lesser.
A season with ups and downs
The season starts with a bitter setback for Philipp: He has to cancel the first World Cup in Kontiolahti due to illness. At his delayed start of the season in Hochfilzen, he can cross the finish line for the first time as the final runner of a German World Cup relay team in third place. During the rest of the season, Philipp will compete in the World Cup; unfortunately, at the European Championships in Duszniki Zdroj he will not be able to qualify for the World Championships in Slovenia. Instead, he competes in the IBU Cup and can convince there with good performances. Towards the end of the season he returns to the World Cup team.
Further ups and downs
At the start of the season, Philipp is again part of the World Cup team, but the good results fail to materialize, so that he competes in the IBU Cup again. At the European Championships on the Arber, Philipp convinces with the silver medal in the mixed relay. However, Philipp is not able to qualify for the season's highlight, the Olympic Games in Beijing. Through good results in the IBU Cup, he repeatedly wins World Cup starts. One of the season's highlights is the third place with the relay team in Antholz.
Podium places in the IBU Cup
Philipp finishes on the podium in the IBU Cup five times this season, including a victory in the Canmore sprint. Thanks to his consistently good performances in the IBU Cup, he finishes seventh in the overall standings. Unfortunately, he only gets a few chances to prove himself in the World Cup this season; he competes in Annecy, Pokljuka and at the end of the season in Oslo.
Comeback in the World Cup
Philipp is unable to qualify for the World Cup in the qualifying races and starts the season in the IBU Cup. He proves himself there with good results and gets the chance to compete in the World Cup in Lenzerheide. With fourth place in the sprint, he only just missed out on the podium. As the season progressed, Philipp remained an integral part of the World Cup team, celebrated a podium finish with the relay team and took part in the World Championships in Nove Mesto.
