Career
His surname is well known in winter sports: Tristan's father is the successful cross-country skier Rene Sommerfeldt, who was also part of the Viessmann team during his active time. Just like his father, Tristan's passion is winter sports. For him, however, it's not “just” about cross-country skiing, his heart beats for the Nordic combined. Even at a young age, Tristan was one of the up-and-coming German talents in the Nordic combined, and in 2020/21 he took part in the Junior World Championships in Lahti, Finland, for the first time. In the following years, he was an integral part of the German team at the Junior World Championships and won a total of seven medals, three of them in gold. In 2022, Tristan celebrated his World Cup debut at the final in Schonach and became a permanent member of the World Cup team just a few years later.
Multiple Junior World Champion and World Cup starter
In the 2020/21 season, Tristan is part of the Viessmann junior team for the first time and takes part in the Junior World Championships. In Lahti, he narrowly missed out on a medal with the team, but a year later at the Junior World Championships in Zakopane, he won bronze in the singles and became world champion with the mixed team. In the same year, Tristan makes his World Cup debut at his home World Cup in Schonach. In the following seasons of 2022/23 and 2023/24, he continued to develop steadily, competing in more and more World Cup events and winning four more medals at the Junior World Championships, including two gold medals in the mixed team and team sprint.
